Demountable

This is essentially a pickup with a caravan unit mounted on the back. This can be stabilised on legs and the vehicle section driven away.

Pros:

• Ease of vehicle for day trips and day use.

Cons:

• Limited space and storage size.
• Hassle to load and unload - needs suitable hardstanding
• Need suitable vehicle to begin with.

5th Wheeler

These are essentially caravans but with a more stable mounting - using the same joint a truck would rather than a normal tow bar. A suitably equipped towing vehicle is needed. Generally unsuitable for most campsites due to their size.

American Motorhomes

These are really large vans and completely unsuitable for most European roads and campsites. Massively long and they may have slide out sections to make the living space even bigger once parked.
