Insurance for Self Built Campervans

Unfortunately insuring a self-built campervan can be a frustrating process. Most standard insurers will have problems - there are just far too many non-standard modifications for them to give a quote.

There are many specialist motorhome insurers out there, but these often have restrictions on what they will insure. These include a minimum driver age and the minimum vehicle value. The most problematic is that some will only insure vehicles converted by certain manufacturers. Others require detailed photographs of the conversion to ensure tht it fits within their requirements.

The one exception to this appears to be Adrian Flux. They will insure any campervan and do specialise in the home built variety. There are however some restrictions with foreign travel, depending on the underwriters they use - but if you tell them your requirements they can usually accommodate at a higher premium.
