Route Planning

When travelling with a tent you're less flexible then with a campervan - it can take an hour or more each end of the day for setting up and packing away. With this in mind you'll probably want to stay more days in fewer places and move on less frequently. You will however have easier transport for day trips.

It's worth looking for sites within an easy drive of several attractions you want to visit to minimise the number of days you spend on the road and time setting up and putting away your tent.

Most sites have quiet time and won't let you arrive after about 10pm or leave before about 7am to avoid disturbing other guests. You'll also want to avoid arriving in the dark - trying to set a tent up in the dark isn't fun! With this in mind the number of hours you have available to drive won't be as long as in a van - so you'll have to plan your route accordingly.
