Slovenia - Country Guide
Slovenia is a small compact nation with a surpising amount to see in such a small space. Emerald alpine meadows, quite lanes and picture book villages are reminicent of an unspoilt Austria. Towards the west are the Julian Alps, soaring peaks and wild valleys.
The short stretch of coastline has picturesque Venetian ports, while the capital of Ljubljana is small and compact. The interior has many karst caves - two of these are open to the public and both are worth a visit.
Slovenia also is beginning to get a reputation for extreme sports - in the dramatic Soca valley, paragliding and white water rafting are the main attractions.
